Commercial CCTV And Drainage Surveys: Four Survey X Project Examples

Choosing a drainage survey starts with the information your project needs. Internal pipe condition, chamber connections, culvert levels and building measurements answer different questions. These four published Survey X projects show how CCTV inspection and related survey services fit different scopes.

Huddersfield Bus Station: Drainage Condition Evidence

Survey X completed a CCTV drainage condition survey at Huddersfield Bus Station. The published case study describes recorded fractures, localised joint displacement and deposits, with the survey evidence supporting engineering review, targeted repair planning and future asset management.

This is an example of using CCTV to establish the condition of an existing asset before deciding on further work. The survey findings support repair decisions; they are not a claim that repairs have been completed.

Twycross Zoo: Building And Drainage Surveys Together

The published Twycross Zoo project combines measured building surveys, CCTV drainage surveys and manhole survey information. It demonstrates a survey scope covering both a building and its drainage assets.

For projects requiring several types of survey information, defining the required measurements and records at the outset helps establish what each part of the survey must deliver.

RSPB Fairburn Ings: Culvert Inspection And Levels

At Kingfisher Pond, RSPB Fairburn Ings, Survey X carried out CCTV inspection and a level survey of an existing twin culvert. The public case study describes inspection of accessible internal sections alongside measured level information.

These complementary surveys bring together the visible internal condition and the physical arrangement of the structure. They provide information for maintenance considerations and any further assessment required.

NEXT E3, South Elmsall: Drainage Asset Records

The published NEXT E3 project covers manhole surveys and drainage asset mapping, including chamber records and connectivity information. This example concerns drainage asset records rather than a separately claimed CCTV inspection.

Chamber and connectivity information can form part of a wider drainage investigation when the project requires a clearer understanding of the network arrangement.

Match The Survey To The Decision

A condition assessment, a connectivity investigation and a culvert level survey each have a different purpose. A useful brief identifies the site, the question to be answered, available access and the records required. Where several services are needed, the scope can bring those requirements together.
