Professional Drone Surveys UK

Survey X provides professional drone surveys across the UK to support design, inspection and asset management for developers, engineers, contractors, architects, asset managers and property teams.

Drone Survey Applications

We offer wide-ranging aerial data collection services to support construction and property cycles:

  • Aerial site photography and overview imagery.
  • Roof and facade inspection for condition and defects.
  • Construction progress monitoring and record imagery.
  • Photogrammetric mapping for design and planning.
  • Stockpile and earthworks information where scoped.
  • Hard-to-access asset inspection where scoped.

Survey Methodology

Our surveys are executed with precision to ensure data integrity and compatibility with engineering workflows:

  • Systematic image capture with appropriate overlap.
  • Use of ground control and/or check points when required.
  • GNSS positioning to support survey control.
  • Processing imagery into survey-ready outputs.

Survey Deliverables

Deliverables are tailored to project requirements and may include, where scoped:

  • Georeferenced orthomosaics.
  • Still photographs and inspection imagery.
  • Point clouds and 3D models.
  • Surface models and contours.
  • CAD- and PDF-ready data for design teams.

Outputs depend on scope, access, weather, lighting, vegetation, line of sight, GNSS quality and site/airspace restrictions. Flights remain subject to safe conditions and required permissions.

When Drone Surveys Are Required

Drone surveys are most effective when traditional survey workflows are limited or when rapid data collection is required:

  • Limited or unsafe access for traditional survey methods.
  • Need for rapid site overview and record imagery.
  • Requirement to inspect roofs, facades or elevated assets.
  • Need to monitor construction progress over time.
  • Requirement for up-to-date surface and level information.

Flight Planning and Survey Limitations

Safe and accurate operations are dependent on technical and environmental factors:

  • All flights are planned around site constraints and airspace requirements.
  • Operations are subject to weather, lighting and visibility.
  • Vegetation, obstructions and line of sight may limit coverage.
  • GNSS quality and available control affect achievable accuracy.
  • Some areas may not be flyable due to safety or permissions.
  • Outputs and coverage are never guaranteed and depend on the agreed scope.
